This Privacy Policy describes how Idaho Premier Law Group collects, uses, protects, and shares information when we communicate with you by text message. It applies to our SMS messaging program and should be read together with our SMS Terms & Conditions.

Who We Are

Idaho Premier Law Group is the Idaho registered doing-business-as (DBA) name of Bauer Law PLLC, a family law firm located in Sandpoint, Idaho, owned by Attorney D. Scott Bauer. We send text messages only to existing or prospective clients who have asked us to communicate with them this way.

Information We Collect Through SMS

When you communicate with us by text message, we collect and store:

  • Your mobile phone number
  • Your name and the name of the matter or inquiry your messages relate to
  • The content of the messages you send us and our replies
  • The date and time of messages
  • Records of your consent to receive messages and any opt-out requests

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above only to:

  • Respond to your inquiries about our services
  • Schedule, confirm, remind, and reschedule appointments
  • Provide case status updates you have requested
  • Request documents or information related to your matter
  • Send billing-related notices, as permitted by your engagement agreement
  • Comply with our record-keeping obligations under the Idaho State Bar rules

We do not use your information for any other purpose, and we do not send unrelated marketing messages.

How You Gave Consent

You will receive text messages from us only if you have opted in by one of these methods:

  • Checking the SMS consent box on our website contact or intake form
  • Signing a consent provision in your engagement letter or intake paperwork
  • Telling us by phone or in person that you would like to receive texts, which we record in your file
  • Sending us a text message first

If you text us first, your message is consent for us to reply by text on the same subject only. Recurring messages, such as appointment reminders and billing notices, require consent given through our intake form or engagement letter.

Consent is not a condition of engaging our firm. If you prefer not to receive texts, we will communicate by phone or email instead.

How to Stop Receiving Messages

At any time, you may:

  • Reply STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE to any message
  • Reply HELP for assistance
  • Call us at (208) 597-0180
  • Email us at scott@iplg.law
  • Tell us in person or by any other reasonable means

You may revoke consent in any reasonable manner that clearly expresses a desire not to receive further messages. We will honor your request within ten (10) business days, and we will confirm your opt-out by one final message containing no promotional content.

Opting out of SMS does not terminate our representation of you, withdraw your consent to be contacted by other means regarding your matter, or affect deadlines or obligations under your engagement agreement. To terminate representation, follow the written-notice procedure in your engagement letter.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies with your matter and your requests. Typically you will receive no more than a few messages per week.

Message and data rates may apply according to your wireless plan. IPLG is not responsible for charges imposed by your mobile carrier.

We Do Not Sell or Share Your Information

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information or mobile number with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

We share message data only with the narrow category of service providers who process messages on our behalf under confidentiality obligations — specifically, our text messaging platform and telephone carrier, Twilio, and our practice management system, Clio — and only as needed to deliver, receive, and store messages and to keep records required by the Idaho State Bar. We do not share your information with advertising networks, data brokers, or anyone else.

Data Security and Retention

We store SMS communications in our practice management system, which is access-controlled and encrypted in transit and at rest. Text message content related to a client matter is part of the client file and is retained in accordance with Idaho State Bar record-keeping rules, then securely destroyed when retention is no longer required.

Please be aware that standard SMS is not encrypted end-to-end. See our SMS Terms & Conditions for guidance on what should not be sent by text.

Your Choices

You may:

  • Withdraw SMS consent at any time
  • Ask us to communicate by a different channel
  • Request a copy of the SMS records in your file
  • Request correction of your contact information

Because client files are governed by professional-responsibility rules, we may retain certain records even after you ask us to delete marketing-related information. We will explain any limits when you ask.

Texting Is Not Legal Advice and Does Not Create an Attorney-Client Relationship

Sending or receiving texts with our firm does not create an attorney-client relationship, which is formed only by a signed engagement letter. Even before an engagement letter is signed, information you share with us as a prospective client is kept confidential under the Idaho Rules of Professional Conduct. Text messages are for scheduling and brief communications — not legal advice. Do not send detailed confidential or time-sensitive legal information by text.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted at this page with its effective date. Material changes affecting active messaging programs will be announced by text or email before they take effect.
